08/08/2010 19:50
We are finally back in school, but this week might be a little confusing with all the schedule changes that occur.  Don't worry, if you need the extra math help, I will still be your teacher even if it means a different period. The biggest push this week will be to complete pre-Math I testing...

Math I Support Expectations

Coach Chris Allen

Room: M-17

Required Materials

Each student should be ready for the semester by having a three-ring binder with 100 sheets of paper, pencils, and a Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS calculator (available from Walmart for around $15). This calculator will be helpful in all high school math classes as well as several science and electives courses. It is the single most helpful and convenient technology for math students!

Grade Recovery Initiatives

Cass High School has adopted a Grade Recovery Initiative to increase the number of students gaining credits.  As part of this initiative, students determined to be at-risk for losing credits will be targetted and scheduled for a series of mandatory in-school and after school tutoring sessions to recover passing grades. Any student failing at the end of a 4 1/2 week grading period will automatically be scheduled for tutoring with a Parent & Student Contract.

In this class, three zeros for assignments automatically results in Lunch Detentions until at least two assignments are recovered. Completion of assignments will result in a 70 for each assignment. Failing a test automatically results in two (2) mandatory tutoring sessions to review concepts and then a third session to retake an alternate exam.  Passing the re-test will result in a 70 for that test.

No student has the right to fail this class or not complete assignments!
